JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hourly Rate
£11.44 - £12.78 depending on experience and qualifications.

MAIN FUNCTION
The Residential Child Care Worker will have a commitment to Inspire Scotland values, work as part of a team to meet the care needs of an identified group of young people. He/she will be expected to work towards the maintenance of the highest professional standards of social care practice.  He/she will ensure that the aims and objectives of Inspire Scotland are met. 

MAIN DUTIES
To implement and uphold the aims, objectives, policies and procedures of Inspire Scotland Ltd. To meet the care needs of young people, the Residential Child Care Worker:

  1. Undertake Keyworker responsibilities in relation to the individual.  This will include working in partnership with the young person, their family and other support agencies.  Keyworkers will also be expected to prepare relevant reports as well as generally manage the implementation and maintenance of a care and education plan.

  2. Promote equality for all individuals.

  3. To undertake CALM training in contributing to the management of aggressive and abusive behaviour and to participate in physical intervention when appropriate.

  4.  Promote communication with young people where there are communication difficulties.

  5. Support young people when they are distressed.

  6. Empower young people to make use of the available services and information.

  7. Contribute to the health, safety and security of young people and their environment.

  8. Promote the well-being of all young people with a professional framework in a sensitive caring manner, affording them dignity and respect.

  9. Provide an input into assessments, reviews, children’s hearings and any other relevant meetings.

  10. Work in a flexible pattern of shifts over a period of a rota and participate in sleepover duties and extraneous hours of duty as required.

  11. Undertake any other duties or responsibilities that may be required from time to time. 

  12. To participate and involve young people in physical activity and in their health and wellbeing.

  13. Driving license preferred but not essential for this post.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT 
As part of the staff team to play an active part in the formulation of a yearly plan.  Thereafter to be committed to working towards meeting the objectives identified.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Through the direction of the Manager to be committed to ensuring that Quality Assurance Systems are adhered to.  To maintain an awareness of commitment to the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.

FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT
To ensure that client records are maintained in line with the Inspire Scotland Ltd policies and procedures.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participate in staff development programmes and be committed to ongoing professional development in line with the requirements of the SSSC.

QUALIFICATIONS
For the purposes of registration Residential Child Care Workers will be required to have or attain within the registration period an HNC Social Care and an appropriate SVQ Level 3.

PERSONAL
To have a commitment to uphold the values and ethos of Inspire Scotland Ltd.
