The Inspire Ethos is our model of practice and philosophy of care, guiding every interaction, routine, and decision within our homes. It is built on three key foundations: Trauma-Informed Practice, the Solihull Approach, and The Promise. Together, these create a compassionate, relationship-focused framework that helps children and young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to shape positive futures.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Many of the children and young people we care for have experienced significant adversity. We recognise how these experiences can affect emotions, behaviour, and relationships. Our care teams respond with empathy, patience, and consistency, ensuring young people feel secure enough to begin healing.
We focus on:
Creating physically and emotionally safe environments.
Building trust through honesty, transparency, and consistency.
Supporting choice and autonomy to give young people a sense of control.
Encouraging resilience and personal growth through a strengths-based approach.
Daily routines, shared activities, and consistent relationships help provide predictability and stability. Emotional regulation strategies are built into everyday interactions so that young people can develop healthy coping skills over time.
The Solihull Approach
The Solihull Approach gives us a practical, evidence-based framework to support emotional development and secure relationships. It focuses on:
Containment – helping children process and manage emotions safely.
Reciprocity – building attuned, trusting relationships.
Effective behaviour management – understanding behaviour as communication and addressing its underlying causes.
By embedding these principles, we create a nurturing environment where young people can develop confidence, self-regulation, and healthy attachments.
The Promise
We align our work with Scotland’s national commitment that by 2030, every child will grow up loved, safe, and respected. In practice, this means:
Providing stability and minimising unnecessary placement moves.
Supporting family and community connections wherever possible.
Actively listening to children’s voices in decisions about their lives.
Offering holistic support that includes education, health, and life skills development.
Specialist Support and Collaboration
Our homes are supported by an in-house mental health practitioner who works alongside our care teams, ensuring that our approach remains psychologically informed and reflective. We collaborate closely with schools, health professionals, and advocacy services to deliver consistent, joined-up care tailored to each young person’s needs.
Shaping Brighter Futures
The Inspire Ethos is more than a framework. It is a commitment. By integrating trauma-informed, relationship-based care into every aspect of our work, we help children and young people not only recover from past challenges but also build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need for a fulfilling future.
