Educational Partnership with The University of Strathclyde

We are pleased to announce that we have renewed our partnership with The University of Strathclyde.

At Inspire Scotland we believe work placements are an invaluable asset to students, providing the opportunity to gain skills specific to their subject of choice and help them make informed decisions about their futures and career choices.

We are proud to offer support and developmental opportunities to students within our residential care homes.

We asked Anne Ryan, Practice Learning Manager at The University of Strathclyde, to share her thoughts on the partnership:

“Our valuable partnership with Inspire Scotland enables students to apply the knowledge and practical skills gained through their studies in a professional environment. Workers at Inspire support students to develop the skills and behaviours required to be successful in practice. Additionally, students have the opportunity to work as part of a real team, in a challenging but supportive environment. Inspire Scotland offer insight into the working environment of residential care which can help students decide on their future career goals.”

We asked one recent student on placement at Inspire Scotland about her experience:

“It can be daunting entering a new work environment as a student, however, the team at Inspire Scotland were very welcoming from the outset and this supported me to have a positive experience in my workplace practice placement. The staff were always more than happy to help share their knowledge and experience providing a great mentoring system to help students progress in their studies.

The staff excelled in working as a team, which I was very quickly accepted into, showing first-hand
the benefits this can have for the day to day running of the service as well as for the young people they support.  Although at times it could be a challenging environment, the staff encouraged me to be confident in my ability to manage any situation that arose. I would highly recommend Inspire for future student placements.”
